Me and a python (sorry mum should have warned you about this photo :))Since, I really want to see the north of Viet Nam I sacrificed my planned two day trip on the delta for the one day option and I once again found myself being herded from place to place it was such a contrived experience with so many of the same activities set up and supported by different tour agencies I imagine that one would have to go quite a way up stream to experience true life on the delta. Although I was dissapointed by this experience I know that my cycle trip around Cambodia will provide the experience that I really wanted.
The trip was very much a culinary one stopping to sample the local honey products (where I also held a python), tropical fruit, coconut candy and for lunch at the tour companies designated stop. In addition, we experienced some Vietnamese music and a canoe trip through a small distributary. During the lunch break however I did wander off into the village, get myself lost and found myself in the middle of the coconut production process. I was suspose to go back to Saigon by boat up the Saigon river but as I found out from another tour group the boat has run a ground during the morning trip down the river and was thus broken so back on the bus I went.
