1 January 2009 - Pursat

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!
I hope 2009 brings you all many adventures and joy - thank you all for being in my life and I look forward to connecting with you at different points throughout this year and sharing our lives together.
We awoke in the dry season of Cambodia to pouring rain - is this a sign? If so would anyone like to interpret it for me...
Today was meant to be a day of NGO visits and teaching however due to the rain and the fact that we were not prepared for it and in the interest of our own health we opted out of the visits but kept out teaching obligations. This was a well needed day of relaxation with very leisurely cycling to and from the school.
Our first teaching class had very advanced English and our lesson plan undermined their intelligence so there was a lot more mutual teaching which even involved the kids teaching us traditional Khmer dance - it was such a great time. Today was also an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little better as half of the group had headed off this morning to another school. It was cool hanging out with the girls and generally goofing around.
Dinner was interesting... we went to what was the local chic restaurant which was aptly named until you started ordering food - where they took out order then kept coming out telling us they didn't have things and then a whole fish turned up. It looked as though it had but put whole into a vat of fat and then put on a plate.

Photos to come
